This is a poem where the narrorator talks about a girl who he say the other day while in a subway. The girl the narrorator sees is someone who he just met, and he catches feelings for her so quickly. “The girl with the shining legs in the metro”(3). Even though he has feelings for this girl she goes her way and he goes his. The narrorator doesn’t make a move to talk to her and he knows he’ll never see her again. “while I, crucified to family duties, stood, transfixed”(9-10).
